Quiet_Desperation: I’ve noticed people questioning the salaries of the founders of...
I’m not sure where/when they said 70% goes to salary….. The source I have (charitynavigator.com) says that 80.5% goes to program expenses and 16.2% goes to administrative expenses (which includes salaries). The 3 CEO’s salaries make up about 3%. Also, I’m sure if you had a career and a degree you would be able to make more than 11K.I’ve noticed people questioning the salaries of the founders of Invisible Children. Each makes between $80-90K each year.
Sounds like a lot?
The CEO of the American Cancer Society makes $914,906 per year. The VP? $1,550,705 every year. And the retired CEO (he’s not even doing anything anymore)…
Yes, to someone that makes 11 thousand a year, an 800 percent increase would set me up for years.
Also, only 30 percent of the money they raise goes to the cause. The rest is salary. Their words.

CEO of Susan G Komen?
$417,171.
My point is not that these people don’t deserve the money they make. In no way am I suggesting that. I am simply saying we cannot condemn the founders of Invisible Children for earning a living and supporting their families. In what world is $88K a lot of money? Is it enough for the families to live comfortable? Yes. Why shouldn’t they?
Jason, the founder and narrator of the videos is supporting two children, Gavin and Everley, while living in Africa for much of his time.
Just because someone works for a cause doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to earn a living.

I don’t care if this doesn’t “suit” my blog. Everyone needs to know about Kony.
STOP KONY.
everyone on tumblr needs to reblog this.
I really like the KONY 2012 movement and the idea of spreading awareness about Kony’s crimes in Africa. However, I’m wondering why the CEO of Invisible Children makes $88,000 a year and the other two founders make close to that. Seems like a good chunk of change is going to their pockets rather than to Africa… am I wrong? Please tell me if I’m wrong… I hope I am.

I do agree^^^
So, you guys don’t think people who are trying to make a difference in the world deserve to earn a living? They aren’t going to do this for free, obviously. Consider the fact that they have their own families to raise while they are in another country. 88K is a lower salary than a lot of professions, and this is making a legitimate difference. I don’t see an issue.
